Progression : III concluded on the usual high, despite desperate cries from the Junior College kids asking for R&B. Hope they enjoyed the culture shock as much as we enjoyed ignoring those them.

Progression : III
20/12/2003 (Saturday) @ Centro
10.30pm - 4.00am

10.30 pm - 12.00 am Blissout (G2 / Progress List)
12.00 am - 01.00 am Itchi (G2 / Frontallabs)
01.00 am - 02.00 am Kennerve (Centro / G2 / Frontallabs)
02.00 am - 04.00 am Yukun (G2 / Space 2020)

The boys are doing it again! After two very successful nights in April and June respectively, the boys from Groove Genetics (G2) are out again in full force for the 3rd installment of their Progression series.

Progression : III is about celebrating the success of the local boys for the past year… Garagesaleshop : level series, Frontallabs relaunch party, Progressions : Chapter I and II, Frontallabs “Islandwide Tour”, Pepsi X 24 hrs party, Space 2020 with Yukun as the anchor, and of course, the addition of DJs to Centro’s strong stable of residents.

Expect an explosive string of sets from progressive house to euphoric trance, and a journey from the past and back. With the years of experience behind the line-up, it will be yet another memorable night.

It happened twice, and it will happen again…

SPACE 2020 presents
Yukun + Solarstone @ Centro
11 October 2003

Singapore's own trance club night is back with yet another duo... the much anticipated Solarstone! Known for massive classic anthems like "Seven Cities", "The Calling" and more recently doing huge business all over with "Solarcoaster" and "Third Earth" (with Scott Bond). Interestingly, they also produce under the monicker Z2 and had quite a sort-after progressive trance tune "I Want You". Prepare to experience euphoria like never before...

Frontal's Island Wide Tour 2003 features some DJs and associates from G2. Check out Frontal for other details.

Kennerve (Frontal / G2) helms the closing set @ Elements on 13 September from 2 - 3 am for the 2nd leg. You know the score on what this chap is capable off!

On the 20 September @ Centro, for the 3rd leg, Keishi (Centro / GSS / G2) from 1 - 2 am and Itchi (Frontal / G2) from 2 - 3 am. This installment should be massively mad!

Our resident chill-master Kai (G2) will be playing his part for the final leg of the tour on 27th September @ Embargo. He opens for the chill out arena at 9 pm. Drop by, have a cold one and soak in! Shape-shifter is in the house...

In the other arena (Centro), Kennerve (Frontal / G2) mans the decks from 2 - 3 am. If the line-up is anything to go by, this one will be a thumpingly great one!

Our net radio heads for a revamp of sorts.

We will be opening it up to any contributors who want to feature their mix sets online. Each mix must be at least 15 mins in duration and not exceedingg 80 mins. We have about 4 hours of programming to rotate 24/7 and we hope to keep the playlist fresh with an update every 10 days or so.

Interested parties can email enquiries@groovegenetics.com for further details.

Note that should any contribution be really good, we might consider putting it out on the G2 Promo Mix series.

We have been getting numerous mails requesting for copies of our various promo CDs. Sadly, we cannot please everyone as everything is released on a strictly promotional basis only. However, check back with Frontal Labs for online contests to stand a chance to land a copy of the above. You can also email us and tell us what genre does Kenny play on Fridays at Liquid Room. Much like its well-received predecessor, it will feature some unreleased material, current tracks as well as a few classics (they just will not go away, do they?). Yukun has more or less finished up his mix and a sneak preview is rotating at G2 Net Radio. A finalized tracklisting will be posted soon. Also on rotation are Global DJ Broadcast mixes from Gabriel & Dresden as well as Scumfrog!

To kickoff the new slew of trance expeditions, Yukun will meet Above & Beyond from Belgium.

Over the last few years, Above & Beyond have shot to superstardowm with their projects like Oceanlab, Tranquility Base and Dirt Devils. They are ranked among the most respected trance producers globally. Besides running their own record labels, the duo have also been dishing out top remix treatments for acts like Ayumi Hamaskai, Armin van Buuren, Delerium and even Madonna.

Anthony Pappa @ Centro
27 June 2003 (Friday)
One Fullerton #02-02,
Singapore (049213) Tel: 62202288

Hailing from Melbourne Australia, 26-year old Anthony Pappa is leading the pack of new young DJ's while taking over the world with his hard progressive sound.

Pappa cut his DJing teeth in Melbourne at the tender age of 13 at a friends birthday party then went on to win a DMC mixing competition at 15 which gave him the opportunity to play in clubs all over Australia.

After meeting Sasha, John Digweed and Dave Seaman whilst playing on the same bills in Australia, Anthony came to the realisation that the only way to further his career was to move half way around the world to Britain, a big step at only 21, but the gamble has paid off. Anthony had to accept the fact that after playing to crowds of over 8,000 people in Australia, when he arrived in Britain he would have to wait and work his way up the ladder and this he has done.

A firm believer in letting his music and mixing speak for itself, Anthony during a recent DJ magazine interview commented "When the needle drops the bullshit stops. That's it, end of story, period" and it is a banner that Anthony will continue to carry forward and believe in during his now inevitable rise to the very top.

Anthony's talent and potential are now well bounded exponents on the dance music scene, so much so that Global Underground recognised his unique talent and kicked off their brand new "Nu -Breed" series by asking Anthony to mix the flagship release in the series.

While we are sorting out Keishi's mix...

Coming right up in the next week or so, we will be putting out the sequel to the promotional breaks mix cd series Re:volution. Doing the honours will be the our local "first lady of breaks" Reiki, who has done a really nasty outing which incorporates sample drop-ins and etc. Her fans should be pleasantly pleased with this...

As our series are strictly for promotional purposes only, one of the ways you can get your hands on this CD is by checking back with Frontal Labs, Bedroomjocks.com or Garagesaleshop for online contests. You can also email us and tell us what genre(s) is Reiki known for as a DJ? Clue : Get it wrong and we will break your arms! We will give away 5 copies to the first 5 correct entries.

With the current gloom, music seems to make the most sense...

We will be starting a brand new series called Blueprint, which will feature a host of Singapore deejays from G2 as well as others. It will take on a more progressive tip... which itself has a wealth of sub-genres.

Kicking the first one off will none other than Keishi of Garagesaleshop.

This will come as a nice one for the fans he has garnered the past years and judging from the initial CDR from him, it will be quite a mouthwatering debut for the series which should be on the stereo for a few good listens! Expect no compromise on quality as he digs into his box and delivers a well-balanced offering with a couple of much sort-after tunes from the past months.

Copies will be ready latest by mid-May. Look out for contests on Frontal Labs, Bedroomjocks.com as well as Garagesaleshop! You can also email us and tell us what contest did Keishi win last year. Clue : He won enough hair gel to keep his hair up for almost a year! We will give away 5 copies to the first 5 correct entries.

Even more exciting times ahead...

Next on the line for our Techno:logical series of promotional mix CDs is none other than Cleo's 51st eligible bachelor Gerald Ang of Frontal Labs.

Many will remember Gerald for his signature energetic techno sets that thread on the line between groovy and funky. Domestically, no one quite does it as infectiously as him and yet have loads of fun while at it. The rest of us will always know him as an all-round generally nice guy, that shops for vinyls in his neck-and-tie attire (heh!).

We have just received the master copy of the mix from the man himself and will be going through usual process of mastering and etc. Copies of it should be ready by the end of the month. As with previous promotional CDs, this one will pretty much be in great demand with his friends and fans. Arrangement will be made with Frontal Labs to giveaway more than usual via their website. Alternatively, email us and say why you think Gerald and Bernice Wong (Miss Universe Singapore) should hook up... and we might just send you a copy along with an A4-sized autograph photo of the cutey (erm... we mean, Gerald).

So lace up and get ready to shuffle as we prepare for an all-out Techno assault... Gerald stylee!

To kick off our first ever techno promotional mix series, we have called upon none other than that the legendary local hero Stingray. There's no stopping us...

Late last year, a promotional mix CD entitled Dirty Progressive Funk by Artform 44 was making it's rounds. It was like no other mix CD as it featured well over 50 progressive house loops and elements, mixed into a collage of sound. To date, it is still the first of it's kind locally, setting an inspiring benchmark for the future generation of domestic DJs and producers. Well, we were so impressed and inspired, we have asked the accused to touch-up and rework the mix... and in re-mastered glory, we will be putting it out on it's second promotional rounds this year.

Limited copies to be given away to the first 5 people who can tell us WHO IS ARTFORM 44? Clue, click on the CD title and surf... then EMAIL us.

We can hardly breathe!!!

As we are in the midst of rolling out the 3 promotional mix CDs below, we are proud to announce the arrival of the 3rd installment of Private Space, which should be making it's rounds in about a week's time or so. What's it all about? It's a promotional series whereby we invite DJs to present a mix of stuff that they get their kicks off in their private space and time (thus the title).

For this volume, we have asked a music fan instead. Yes, you heard as right... a music fan! Kenneth Chui, affectionately known to the rest of the G2 folks as "that army boy" (he's out of it now), has been an avid and dedicated follower of our events and all things progressive. We were sent an MP3 of the mix and upon the first 15 mins of listening, we decided to commission it to our existing series. Until you hear the mix, don't write anything off as you will be pleasantly surprised.

Want to win a copy? We have copies to be given away to the first 3 to EMAIL us your name and address. Entries close 12 January 2003.

A happy new year to one and all... *etc, etc and etc*

As with the grand old tradition, each new year brings in a new hope (hopefully), or in our case, some glimmer of aural salvation in the form of 3 brand new promotional mix CDRs by some of the DJs on our relatively subdued stable. Hey, work's a bitch!

First off is Re:collection 002, which is a retrospective look into the lost era of epic house back in the mid 90s. It is mixed by that sad sod called Yukun. He rediscovered his roots and continues to search for his lost marbles. In the current stale state of dance music, this mix ain't that bad. Re:collection 001 is already in the making. Don't ask, it's rather confusing as with all "Back To The Future" storylines... :)

Not to be outdone, the other veteran Blissout has whipped out his tribute to the inspiring "northern exposure" sound in a 3CD set called Occurring Past Thoughts [Northern Exposure Re:Visited]. Talk about a long title, eh? CD One is finally completed with a rather mouth-watering tracklist and he continues his work on the other two. This is what "retro" should be about!

The third CDR, Re:volution 001, comes from a relatively low profile individual who has actually been a contributing member since the days of Solace. Lunus, aka Lunarsoul, aka Terence (he can't make up his mind, you see?), delivers a tough-as-nails nu-school breaks set boasting some impressive exclusives from Australia's creme. Shades of that We Are Not Angels Anymore mix? The sound of the future? Does it matter when it's this good?

Savour the tracklist below. Promotional copies will be distributed to G2 members, associates, friends as well as close mates of the mailing list. We will arrange for copies to be given away via contests on relevant local dance sites as well as via our email list. Beg, steal or borrow... :p
